Find Out How to Return an Item on eBay

Shoppers like myself can’t be thankful enough for the Internet. It has made our world so much easier, and our passion for shopping has only become much greater because of it. These days, when I do my online shopping through websites such as eBay or Amazon.com, I can hardly recall how it was before this electronic means of buying ever became available to us all. Sure, I also enjoyed the means of shopping that were available to us before, but I can scarcely describe how much of a change has occurred when I first discovered that the Internet also allows online shopping. It was literally a dream come true for me, and those who love to sell things, not just buy them, have also benefited tremendously.

At first I was only interested in buying clothes and shoes, plus other related items. Then recently, I leaned towards buying watches and some accessories through online means as well. Of course I am endlessly fascinated with the whole process and I have actually increased my purchases if only to be part of that process again and again. I have also added an item among those that I usually purchase that might seem as an odd choice for me. The item, or items that I am referring to are books, but the truth is that I have been reading more these days. And so it goes that my enjoyment of what e-commerce affords has grown immensely, although I have had a few concerns. One of it is getting an item that I did not like, or did not meet my expectations, so that I need to return it.

Returning Something on eBay

There are several reasons why people opt to buy items through online means. Some might have made a hobby out of shopping, while others have been attracted by the fact that can actually save money by opting to buy things through the Internet. And for those instances when items need to be returned, for whatever reason, here’s how to return an item on eBay:

• The first step is to log in to your eBay account and view the listing page to see the seller’s contact information. At the bottom of the listing page, click “Ask a Question”, after which you should select “Contact Seller” and then “Continue”. Briefly describe the item and then state that you wish to return it. After that, click “Send”.

• Enter a discussion with the seller regarding the discussion through the website’s messaging platform. The seller might require you to prove any product defect or inaccuracy in the listing description, but it all depends on the seller’s return policy. Or the seller might also just decide to accept the returned item after a specified period.

• You can involve eBay in the proceedings if your reason for returning is inaccuracy in the listing or product defect or defects. eBay’s customer service department is available for contact and you can explain the situation to them, after which they will give their decision on the matter.

• If it is at all possible, place the item in the same box that it arrived in, taping it as securely as possible. Mail the box using the address that you got from eBay, tracking the package as it ships through delivery confirmation.

• Communicate with seller regarding the seller, to make sure that arrives with no untoward incident. Provide the seller with the tracking number through e-mail. Refund for your payment should be sent by the seller within 10 days of the returned item’s receipt. Should your refund not arrive within 10 days, notify the eBay Resolution Center.
